Personal experience is the best experience! And through our personal experience, some of us( like myself) go in search of others who may have encountered the same problems and why. But first the nurse in me wants to explain something to you that you may have never thought to link together before...And that's DRUG TOLERANCE.
Let's use something common and simple; antibiotics. We can only take them for a certain length of time, at the same time everyday ,and don't skip days! Your body will build a tolerance to the drug and it will no longer work.. now why is this? Doctors and scientist tell us tolerance happens because the metabolism of the drug speeds up...humm but really what's happening the the rate in which the body metabolize the drug speeds up rendering it no longer effective. The human body was created to heal itself. It's how we are all genetically designed. Now And in giving the body that powerful function it was also giving another powerful function, it's called rejection. Rejection it's when the body does not accept anything foreign or anything that's not from itself. Now this is such common knowledge in the medical world. They deal with it ,they treated on a daily basis. Ranging from medications to transplants. What people aren't correlating is that the same exact thing happens what our hair and skin care products. And it's all because of one simple but major thing. chemical ingredients.
I've been following DIY on YouTube since the early 2000s. Before" influencers". When YouTubers mainly women were on there just bragging about their favorite products , what it do for their hair and skin, and where they bought it from...and they did all this for free!. And if you are a faithful YouTube subscriber you would see your favorite YouTubers change products quite often. I can't tell you the countless amount of times I've saw YouTubers say how disappointed they are with their favorite product. My favorite line is "when I first started buying this product it was so good it was just a little small product and now it's done blew up and it's all over everywhere and done got sorry! the product not the same anymore they changed the ingredients." And almost all of us have been there and have said similar things. So what do we do? We change product. Not only do we change products, oftentimes we change the strength of the products. All because of one simple thing chemical ingredients.
That's what the body recognizes. It's the "something foreign". So it's either going to reject it or build up a tolerance , both resulting in the product not working. And the #1 chemical ingredient is Preservatives! Almost 80% of the packaged products we get today contains a variety of chemical preservatives, some of which are very harmful to our health, Some preservatives are linked with unfavorable effects, such as potential increased risk for cancer. So your favorite product ingredients never changed. For the same reason one person can swear by the same product another person hates. Some skin rejects immediately, others build tolerance.
When you're local, you're making hair and skin care products in a home lab. Mostly for your family and friends, even for your local community. You're using all natural products and a broad spectrum all-natural preservative. And that's perfectly fine and acceptable for small businesses. When an order is placed with you, you make it for them then. You get it to them, they use it immediately. They ordered it for a purpose. But when you're making large amounts for the masses, you can't use an all natural preservative. You have to use a chemical preservative. You have to make your product regardless if it's going to be sold and used tomorrow or 8 months from now. By adding a so widely used high quality chemical preservative, it changes everything to the human body, All the shea butter, cocoa butter, avocado butter, avocado oil, almond oil,.... just all of the wonderful amazing ingredients you could think of. It doesn't matter because once that chemical preservative is added to the batch ,To the human body its all invasive.

Since natural and organic products use naturally grown ingredients that are free from toxic pesticides and fertilizers, the body doesn't consider them intrusive. There are even some mass produced products out there that's still pretty decent for our hair and skin. And those are the ones who come to use more and more natural products. We have come to see the change. Even the mass media has come forth to say how beneficial natural products and herbs are for the body. Now most would say in the words of this generation " A WIN IS A WIN!). But I myself..ummmm not so much. I prefer a more natural approach to my natural. Not a bunch of natural products mixed with a bunch of chemicals.
Products that are handcrafted offer higher quality and more attention to detail apart from taking less energy than a mass production assembly line. When you buy a local made product, the local artisans or the locally owned independent businesses creating them yield a higher percentage of their revenue to their communities than chains. Now that the world is valuing natural and sustainable products more, we have come forward and take notice of these small independent business like all those, including myself, who work toward bringing a better quality effective product, not a bigger profit.
So now that have enlightened you on why we tend to fall out with our favorite products, let me tell you what you can do about it.
